Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland I attended the University of Maryland Baltimore County and received a BS in Mechanical Engineering as a Meyerhoff Fellow. The Meyerhoff program was my first introduction the opportunities in research fields. Various research experiences (Cornell CCMR REU, Georgia Tech REU) helped to solidify my decision to pursue an advanced degree. Dr D. Arola, UMBC, gave me my first long-term research opportunity in 2003 working on the mechanical properties of human dentin.

I am currently using various processing methods to foam Mg-based bulk metallic glass (BMG). The goal of this processing is to create low-density foam that is less brittle than its solid counterpart. It has observed in thin BMG pieces in bending exhibit ductile behavior and foam by nature are thin and subject to bending deformation.
