I studied the precipitation behaviors of steel and aluminum alloys during my Ph.D at Yonsei University. The topic included NbC and (Nb,Ti)C in microalloyed steels, Fe3C and Cu precipitates in medium C steel and Al2Cu precipitate in aluminum alloy. After graduation in 2013, I joined the Division of Light Metals of Korea Institute of Materials Science (KIMS) and studied the alloy design and processing of aluminum and magnesium alloys. Now, I belong to KIMS aluminum department and my research focuses on fundamental research on ultrasonic melt treatment of aluminum alloys and development of high-strength precipitation-hardening aluminum alloys. Characterization of microstructures and precipitates is also one of my research interests.

I am currently a visiting scholar (1 year) at Northwestern University (NU). NU research focuses on 1) the development of L12-precipitate hardening aluminum alloys with excellent coarsening resistance at high temperatures, 2) microstructure characterization of extruded aluminum powder, 3) refining mechanism of ultrasonic melt treatment.
