I was born in Taiwan and moved to Thailand after middle school. After completing my high school in Thailand, I came to U.S. for my undergraduate study in Materials Science and Engineering at Purdue University. At Purdue, my research focuses on electrode microstructure design of lithium-ion batteries using finite element based simulation. Through computation, we determine the optimal microstructure features, such as particle morphology, surface area, porosity, tortuosity of an electrode, to enhance battery performance and reliability. I also conducted scanning probe study in Oak Ridge National Lab and organic solar cell research in UCLA. During my spare time, I like to watch movie, play slow pitch softball and hiking. Recently, I have been developing skill for backpacking.
My research focuses on designing Co-based superalloy for high temperature mechanical applications. Co-based superalloy has the potential to replace Ni based superalloy due to its higher melting temperature which may improve the operational efficiency of a jet engine. The high temperature mechanical properties of superalloy stem from its unique two phase ?-?' microstructure with low interface misfit that effectively impede dislocation motion. However, the high temperature stability of Co-based superalloy needs to be further improved before commercialization.
