Cong Wang

Prior to joining the Department of Materials Science and Engineering of the Northwestern University, I was with the Saint-Gobain High Performance Materials Research and Development Center and the Alcoa Technical Center, respectively. I would consider myself as a seasoned metallurgist/materials scientist with rich experience in aluminum alloys, copper alloys, iron and steels, magnesium alloys, and super-abrasives. I am on the Key Reader rank of Metallurgical and Materials Transactions. I also serve the editorial committees of the International Journal of Refractory Metals and Hard Materials, the Journal of Materials Engineering and Performance, and the Advanced Materials and Processes. As a frequent organizer of international conferences, I (co)-chaired/am chairing REWAS 2013 (Global Conference on Sustainability), Energy Technology and Carbon Dioxide Management Symposium (2013 and 2014), Computational Modeling and Simulation of Advanced Materials for Energy Applications (2014),  and Materials Processing Fundamentals Symposium (2012, 2013 and 2014).

Currently, I am engaged to vapor phase processing of simple forms of Ni foam to create high permeability, low density Ni-base superalloys for aerospace applications
