I was born in a small village of Taixing, Jiangsu, China. I received my BS in Environmental Science from Fudan University , Shanghai, China in 2000. I went to New Mexico Tech at Socorro, New Mexico, USA for a MS in hydrology before I transferred to Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering and worked for Professor Bhaskar S. Majumdar. I got my MS and Ph.D. in Materials Engineering from New Mexico Tech in 2003 and 2007, respectively. Now I work as a postdoc fellow for Professor David C. Dunand in Materials Science and Engineering, Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, USA.
My research focuses on the mechanical aspects of reversible and irreversible martensitic transformations in shape memory alloys and powder densification via transformation superplasticity. The tools I used include diffraction studies with X-rays and neutrons, material processing and mechanical testing, and finite element simulation with ABAQUS software. I am also interested in light-weight advanced aluminum alloys such as Al-Y-Ni system, and theoretical contact mechanics such as adhesion on rough surface.
