B.S., Mechanical Engineering, University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez

I am originally from Puerto Rico. After graduating from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez (UPRM) with a Bachelors in Science in Mechanical Engineering (2001), I started working with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in the Chicago Regional office. During my work, I completed my certification as a Nuclear Power Plant Inspector through the agency’s Nuclear Safety Intern Program (NSIP). In 2002, I was awarded the NRC Graduate Fellowship, which allowed me to pursue a M.S. in Materials Science and Engineering here at Northwestern University (June 2003).

I have been working in transformation superplasticity by thermal cycling of Zr alloys, specifically Zr-702 and Zr-705.
